BHUBANESWAR: The Sainik School, Bhubaneswar, which was established in January 15, 1962, is celebrating its golden jubilee this year.“We are holding a series of small functions on the school premises to mark the launch of Golden Jubilee celebrations. The main function is in December,” said principal of the school Capt (IN) K S Noor. As part of this, an investiture ceremony of the Sainik School cadets was organised here on Saturday. Attending the function as the chief guest, Commissioner-cum-secretary of School & Mass Education Department Aparajita Sarangi exhorted the cadets to be proud of being a part of a prestigious organisation like the Sainik School. She urged them to become good citizens of the country by imbibing moral values, honesty and commitments which are missing among the GenX kids. “I have seen Sainik School cadets shine everywhere, be it the Armed Forces or civilian life. The cadets have been known for their high sense of discipline, good conduct and leadership,” she said. Capt Noor said the school has acted a nursery that has been producing quality officers for the Armed Forces all these years. The school is managed by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence. The Society’s Board of Governors is headed by the Defence Minister. Among others, wg Cdr Ranjan Kumar Mall (IAF) and Sqn Ldr Arun Kumar Das (IAF) were present.
