Singapore: Indian Coast Guard Ship 'Samudra Paheredar' arrived here as part of its Asian itinerary that seeks international cooperation by building a platform for exchange of information and bilateral exercises.
Commanded by Deputy Inspector General Sanatan Jena, the ship arrived in Singapore on Thursday.
Samudra Paheredar, with a complement of 10 officers and 91 sailors, would participate in a joint exercise and rescue and search operation with coast guards of host countries during its visits, said Jena.
Speaking during a reception on board the vessel for the Singapore Coast Guards, diplomats and members of the Indian community, Jena on Thursday night said, "This is a platform for cross training, exchange of information and international cooperation through exercises."
Jena stressed the importance of cooperation and understanding with regional coast guards.
'Samudra Paheredar' will leave Singapore on September 15, reaching Manila on September 19 and then would reach Yokohama on September 28.
Its arrival in Yokohama in Japan will coincide with the 10th Heads of Asian coast guard agencies meeting being hosted by the Japanese city in October.
It will be in Da Nang from October 9 and return home on October 20.
Samudra Paheredar left Port Blair on September 8.
