New Delhi: Ever since Instagram removed support for Twitter cards, there wasn't any easy way to embed Instagram content to other websites, until now. Following up on the launch of Instagram Video, the image and now video sharing service announced the addition of web embedding.
"Now, when you visit an Instagram photo or video page on your desktop web browser, you'll see a new share button on the right side of your photo (just under the comments button). Click the button to see the embed code. Copy the block of text it gives you and paste it into your blog, website or article. When you hit publish, the photo or video will appear," a post on the official Instagram blog said.
The embedding option will not be available to users whose Instagram posts are set to private.
While Twitter allows easy embedding of Tweets along with the associated images and videos, Facebook, that bought Instagram for $1 billion, only allows videos to be embedded. Instagram's video rival Twitter-owned Vine also allows its videos to be embedded on other websites. Is image and status update embedding coming to Facebook? We would like it to.
