CHENNAI: The immovable property returns of IPS officers revealed that there are 20 crorepatis among 169 cadre from Tamil Nadu.
M C Sarangan, chief vigilance officer of the State Transport Corporation, Erode, is another 'highvalue' cop. He has a monthly income of just Rs 30,810, but owns property worth Rs 2.6 crore, most of it as real estate within Chennai and its suburban areas.

Sarangan, who claimed to have purchased all of it himself, owns a oneground (2,400 sq ft) house in Anna Nagar, another building worth Rs 1.75 crore in the same area and plots in Thiruporur and Siruvakkam in the suburbs.

Strikingly, former Director General of Police Letika Saran, who owns a house in Tiruvanmiyur - a prime area, and a plot in Uthandi (in much sought after ECR) has declared the combined value of her property at a mere Rs 11 lakh.
