BANGALORE: House number 582/583, 'Martuhi Nilaya', in Subramanyanagar has suddenly transformed into Karnataka's version of 7, Race Course Road, in Delhi as this belongs to the newly elected Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda. The narrow lanes of this road was full to the brim as people flocked to get a glimpse of their new leader. Sweets were distributed to one and all, and the residents greeted the hosts with bouquets and garlands.
While the neighbours did not know the reason for the commotion at first, news of the new chief minister being their neighbour lit up their faces. A hall that would not have seen more than 10 people at any given day, was playing host to over 50 people on the inside, while another 100 floated around the vicinity of the house. While photographers and cameramen tried to get the first views of the family, friends and well wishers tried to elbow the media out to become part of the frame of fame. The numbers continued to increase with the speculation of Gowda's arrival which resulted in consistent yet frail attempts to burst crackers to greet the chief minister. But the activities looked promising and go long into the night and neighbours who are proud that the chief minister lives in their midst may not be so excited after a loud evening and a sleepless night. When about if this development will bring any change the daily routine of the family, his 25yearold son Karthick said, "I don't think this should affect anything we do. We shall continue to live this way." He has always worked diligently and has seen highs and lows in life, but he has never let that affect his work for the development of the people, he added.
