Dhaka: Bangladesh has rejected as "ridiculous" allegations in the Indian media that the explosives in the July 11 blasts in Mumbai were sourced from its territory.
It says India is trying to level with it because Dhaka has alleged that the explosives used in the explosions that occurred across Bangladesh in August last year had come from "across the border", an euphemism for India.
State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar dismissed as "fictitious" the allegation in Indian media that a major portion of the explosives used in the Mumbai serial bombings went from Bangladesh.
"It is nothing but ridiculous, it is impossible," he was quoted as saying by UNB news agency.
He noted that explosives and detonators used by the Jamiat Mujahiden Bangladesh (JMB) in Bangladesh are believed to have come from across the border.
"And they (Indian press) might be bringing the allegation as a counter reaction."
Bangladesh declared a red alert across the country in the wake of the Mumbai blasts, which killed around 200 people and injured over 700.
Babar asked law enforcers to strengthen the intelligence network and remain alert following the blasts in India's business heartland.
