New Delhi: Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday parried questions on remarks made by BJP leader Jaswant Singh in his book that the 2002 riots in Gujarat were a "blot" on the state and had tarnished the NDA's "immpeccable record".

Modi, who was subjected to a barrage of questions by reporters on Singh's observations in his book A Call to Honour: In service of emergent India, chose not to answer them.

In the book, Singh has said that there was "loss of state control" and "mishandling of events" post-Godhra in 2002 that resulted heavy bloodshed.

Till this development there had not been a single communal riot under the BJP rule, Singh had said.

However, he responded to questions related to his meeting with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other members. During the meeting, the leaders held discussions on the 11th Plan Draft Approach Paper.
