Even as prayers for Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa's well being continue, the security establishment in New Delhi is working in tandem with state police to ensure law and order in the state.
Nine companies of rapid action force were ready to be deployed in the state and the home ministry is monitoring the situation on a real time basis.
"I am in regular touch with TN Governor," Home Minister Rajnath Singh told CNN-News18.
Top home ministry officials told CNN-News18 that no law and order problem has been reported yet from hinterlands in Tamil Nadu.
In Chennai, increased police presence has ensured emotions are kept in check.
K Durga Prasad, DG CRPF said all their companies in and around Tamil Nadu have been asked to be on stand by but no request for deployment has come to CRPF yet.
A top MHA officer said, " So far there is no request for forces from state government. If they ask we will provide."
MoS home, Kiren Rijiju clarified, "The practice is if there is a situation in the state and the state find themselves inadequate to maintain the law and order situation, then the Centre is always willing to send extra forces.
It is our primary duty to ensure that the state is being helped in all possible ways they require. But we cannot intervene on our own."
Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu said he spoke to Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Secretary and enquired about Jayalalithaa's health.
