PUDUCHERRY: In a bid to control crime, the police here today held an interactive meeting with goldsmiths, jewellers and pawn brokers under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police(Law and Order) V J Chandran.The jewellers were given instructions on possible ways to prevent crimes affecting them and at the same time keep the police informed. There have been incidents of jewellers being cheated by new employees. The police advised them to check the antecedents of new workers before engaging them and insisted on installation of CCTVs and burglar alarms in their showrooms. Jewellers have been asked to avoid storing jewellery in rented places without proper security.Superintendent of Police (North) N T Sivadasan, inspectors Angappan, Raghunayagam, Ranganathan and other officers participated.
