Srinagar: The Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt in the early hours of Sunday in Keran sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. A group of terrorists tried to sneak in but Army opened fired on them. The firing continued for some time and the operation is still on.
Pakistan continues to violate ceasefire as its troops opened firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control in BG sector of Poonch late Saturday night. The firing continued for nearly three hours in which several mortar rounds were fired. The forward Indian posts along the LoC were also targeted. The Indian troops retaliated to the firing and there was no report of any casualty or damage on the Indian side.
Brigade Commander of BG sector Brigadier A Sengupta said Pakistan has been continuously violating ceasefire on the LoC and the Army will not allow any infiltration. "We are determined to give a massive retaliation as a response to it and we will not allow any terrorist to cross the LoC here under the cover of fire or any ceasefire violation," he said.
There are reports of repeated ceasefire violations since the killing of five soldiers by Pakistani side along the LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Defence Minister AK Antony had said Pakistan's SSG were behind the killings.
