CHENNAI: Indian Coast Guard East region on Wednesday provided a thrilling mid-sea experience to 20 college girls who are being offered exposure as part of their quality education programme, at the gateway to Bay of Bengal, Chennai.According to Coast Guard sources, the event was an effort to deliver the message of world peace by Kashmiri youth to foster national integration. The young students from J&K embarked on Coast Guard Ship Sarang off Tamil Nadu coast and ventured into the Bay of Bengal, where they witnessed Coast Guard operations.An interaction with the crew of ICGS Sarang was organised with a conducted tour of the ship. The women officers of the Coast Guard also interacted with these girls and briefed them about the coastal force in securing country’s maritime treasures and rights. A brief insight was given into the various facets of Coast Guard operations with an audio-visual presentation on subjects like maritime search & rescue, Coast Guard capabilities, pollution response and maritime law enforcement.It was a memorable moment for them to watch the CG air role while witnessing the ‘Day-At-Sea’ where a ship-borne integral helicopter displayed aerobatics and boarding demonstration.
