Jolie appeals for US forces to remain in Iraq
A trip to the Middle East has convinced Angelina Jolie there is a need to help the Iraqis.

New York: Actress Angelina Jolie has appealed to the American people to keep the forces in Iraq by writing an op-ed piece in the Washington Post titled ‘Staying to Help in Iraq’.

She argued that the US has "finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact."

Jolie visited the Middle East and revealed that the trip left her "deeply convinced" that there is a moral obligation to help the Iraqis, pagesix.com reports.

She writes, "I'm not a security expert, but it doesn't take one to see that Syria and Jordan are carrying an unsustainable burden. They have been excellent hosts, but we can't expect them to care for millions of poor Iraqis indefinitely and without assistance from the US or others."

She believes each of the presidential candidates should come up with a proper refugee plan and a timeline.

"Without the right support, we could miss an opportunity to do some of the good we always stated we intended to do," she concluded.
