HYDERABAD: Raising several objections to the CBI’s plea for attachment of the assets of three media companies owned by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the City Civil Court second additional chief judge A Harihara Nadha Sarma returned the petition on Monday saying all the properties may not come under his jurisdiction as the assets are located at various places. He directed the agency to file a petition furnishing relevant documents within a week.Sarma asked the CBI to explain which assets of the three firms come under the City Civil Court jurisdiction. The CBI said it would collect the details of the assets wherever they are located and produce the documents before the court in Hyderabad. Senior public prosecutor V Venkata Ramana said: “We will explain to the court how they would come under its jurisdiction even though they are located across the state and outside.”The judge also said the agency failed to mention the schedule of  properties along with the petition. The properties should be in the names of the respondents, but the CBI described them as benami assets, he observed and asked, “How can the agency say the properties are benami?” If there are any third parties connected to the assets, they should not suffer due to the attachment, the judge said. While the state government had given vakalath in the name of CBI DSP SC Jilani in the GO, the attachment petition was filed by SP Venkatesh with his signature, the judge pointed out.
