The state government is looking at it as a step to boost tourism in Maharashtra.
The first flight will take off around 11 am from Juhu beach in Mumbai and will land at the Pawana dam near Lonavala.
The project was awaiting a green signal from the Defense and Shipping ministries. The journey from Mumbai to Lonavala takes about two and a half hours by road, and now travelers can cover the distance within 30 minutes.
The tickets for the sea plane are priced at around 3000 rupees.
