BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has managed to deflect pressure on him from state BJP president K S Eshwarappa and MLAs over Cabinet berths by passing on the responsibility to the party high command. With Eshwarappa under pressure to fulfil his promise to independent MLA Varthur Prakash and rebel BJP MLAturned- loyalist Raju Gowda, who had saved the government during the crucial trust vote last October, S Yeddyurappa has been in a fix over his Cabinet expansion. This apart, three of the 10 BJP rebel MLAs have to be accommodated in the Cabinet in return for their support to the government after the Supreme Court verdict on their disqualification. The party is also under compulsion to make Channapatna MLA C P Yogeshwar a minister owing to the public promise in the recent byelection. Not willing to let go the opportunity, Eshwarappa made his stand public by announcing that Prakash and Gowda would be made ministers in the next Cabinet expansion. This is when Yeddyurappa is said to have decided to turn to the high-command. He is also said to have informed Eshwarappa that he would not take up Cabinet expansion till he gets the high commands’ green signal.Going by the present situation, the intervention of the party high command on the issue seems inevitable. Even if the expansion does take place, it would not be without a drama, say sources.
