HYDERABAD: With the party high command giving the go ahead, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana are preparing to take to task legislators owing allegiance to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The two leaders who met on Sundayy, discussed preparations for byelections in constituencies that would fall vacant after disqualification of the 16 MLAs, who voted against the state government during the no-trust vote on December 5.When Botcha called on him at his camp office on Sunday, the chief minister explained how seriously the party high command was viewing the rebel MLAs’s action. The leaders seem determined to see the MLAs would repent their mistake and want this to serve as a warning to others who are still looking to support Jagan. The Congress is also likely to file a petition with Legislative Council chairman for disqualification petitions against MLCs who are in the Jagan camp- Konda Murali, Pulla Padmavathi and SV Mohan Reddy. The party has not yet decided whether to proceed against Jupudi Prabhakar Rao who was elected in the governor’s quota. It must be noted that the party is getting ready to file disqualification petitions against the 16 MLAs who voted against the government. It is believed that after receiving the petition, the speaker would take action without giving much time to MLAs. This would lead to byelections in as many as 25 Assembly constituencies (with Mahaboobnagar also vacant following the death of legislator N Rajesewar Reddy). There would be one more addition in case the UPA government decides to take Chiranjeevi into the central cabinet, as he would have resign his Tirupati seat. The APCC is planning to appoint special committees preparing potential candidates list and District Congress Committee’s will organise party workers meeting in all 25 assembly constituencies where bypolls would be held.
