Kolkata: For the convenience of passengers travelling by Metro during peak hours, the underground train services would now be available at an interval of every five minutes, officials said on Monday.

Metro spokesperson and DGM Protyush Ghosh said the new rescheduled timing would be applicable from Tuesday during peak hours.

At present Metro services are available at a gap of every six minutes as the trains make 270 trips during the day.

Up trains leaving from Kavi Subhash station to Dum Dum station would now be available at a gap of five minutes from 10.56 am to 11.56 am and from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Down trains which leave from Dum Dum station would run every five minutes from 10.02 am to 11.02 am and from 5 pm to 6 pm.

To tackle the rush of commuters, it has also been decided to run three trains from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station directly instead of Kavi Subhash during morning peak hours on working days.
