Legend of Mother Teresa lives on in film
Mother Teresa's journey from Kolkata to her beatification has been made into a documentary by some of her ardent followers.

Mumbai: Words of wisdom, her generous ways and her charitable deeds - a documentary made on the saint of modern times, Mother Teresa, focuses on all this and much more.

Produced by Percept Picture Company and Sahara One Motion Pictures, The Beatification of Mother Teresa, is a 90-minute documentary directed by Gautam Das that will take you through the journey of Mother Teresa's life from the Missionaries of Charity and right upto her beatification.

The film contains footage of the actual beatification presided over by John Paul XI in October 2003.

Armed with some 90 tapes of footage and interviews from Church officials, creative director Amrish Shah and scriptwiter Ameet Mehta, took almost three years to complete the film.

The director has manged to meet and interview people who interacted with Mother Teresa including Monica Besra, whose miraculous cure at the hands of Mother Teresa speeded up her canonisation.

"There was a three fold approach to the film - facts of her life,work she had done and how people felt about her," said Mehta.

There are also a short interview of actress Penelope Cruz, who visited the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata and had the privilege of actually meeting Mother Teresa.

"Penelope Cruz said Mother Teresa told her that if you ever manage to emotionally touch even one person or do something for somebody out of love, I think that its a true achievement," said Amrish Shah.

Shot on 35mm, the film will hit theatres in India soon.
