Work on an exclusive campus for the BJB (Junior) College has been moving at a snail’s pace. While a decision in this regard was taken last year, no work on the proposed campus has been started till date and a part of the money required for the purpose was sanctioned only a month back.

The decision to set up an exclusive campus for the college was taken in the wake of bifurcation from the BJB Autonomous College after the State Government decided to delink Plus II from degree colleges. At present, the existing Arts block of the college has been demarcated for the junior college with the main administrative block retained for the BJB Autonomous College.

As per the proposal, a seven-storey building would be constructed on the Arts block premises for the Junior College. BJB Junior College Principal Shuvada Mohanty said the State Government’s sanction letter of ` 4 crore to carry out the first phase work was received by the college administration only last month. “We have also received the Government’s approval letter for the master plan of the proposed building for the Junior College,” she added.
