Panaji: In more trouble for former Congress minister Churchill Alemao, the state Public Works Department (PWD) has contradicted his version in connection with the Louis Berger bribery scam.

While Alemao had claimed that he's being framed in the case, calling it a political conspiracy, PWD sources have told CNN-IBN that the then PWD Minister had signed on approvals for contracts. He had to clear approvals as part of proceedure.

The contract was awarded by Goa PWD department in consultation with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and the minister was in the loop.

Alemao had told CNN-IBN that he had never heard of Louis Berger and that officials were responsible for appointing consultants and awarding contracts.
