MADURAI: Two advocates of the district court here threatened to commit suicide demanding the district administration to ask commercial establishments owned by Keralites to down shutters until the Mullaiperiyar dispute was resolved. Even as other advocates were on a protest on the court premises, two of their fraternity - T Poosaithurai and M S Sekar - who got to the terrace threatened to jump if Collector U Sagayam did not order Keralites to close their shops. Meanwhile, Madurai Bar Association President A K Ramasamy, DRO B Murugesh and District Court Judge Dhakshinamoorthy held talks with them for nearly two hours. “We visited the establishments on Dec 22 and advised them to close till the issue was resolved. They did it for three days but again opened the establishments under the protection of police”, said Ramasamy.
