Experimenting with dub step and driving progressive-fused beats, the artist has earned quite a reputation for himself in the electronic dance music scene. As Albin now breaks ground with his own releases such as Times Like These, There 4 You, Jump and Romani Beats; and with original productions for Serial, Pick-a-doll and the UK’s own Defected, the future looks even brighter for this high-flying artist. City Express catches up with the Swedish star to find out more about his sound and passion for The Prodigy You come from a musical family; and started DJing at the age of 14. Who were your major influences? It was my friend’s older brother who had the gear so I could learn how to DJ. When it came to music I was hooked on to all kinds of styles like techno, drum and bass, trance and house.You have mentioned that you were a big fan of Prodigy. What is it about their music that intrigues you the most? I’m still a big fan of The prodigy. What I like about their music and profile is the raw energy. Tracks like No Good and Poison gets your whole body pumping. If you ever have a chance to go and watch them live you have to! What genres of music do you listen to apart from electronic? I listen to all kinds of music. Personally, I feel if you only listen to dance music all the time you can’t evolve.Would you consider music to be your spirituality? In some ways yes. Music is an integral part of my life and I can not image existing without it.How would you describe the sound of Swedish house? I think the house sound is a mixture of everything. Techno, vocal house, trance, minimal. We take all the best parts and put it in to a big bag of fun haha! We have seen a lot of versatility in your music over the years. Tell us about some of the productions you admire.I remember when I came up with the idea of making the cover of a Foo Fighters song called Times Like These. I was in a car listening to their acoustic album when it suddenly hit me, This track would sound amazing as a house track. I went straight to the studio and started working on it.How was your experience at Sunburn 2010? It was fantastic. I love the vibe of being on the beach with the warm sunshine and one of the best audiences in the world to play for. Sunburn 2010 was one of my top three shows of that year. Simply amazing! The craziest/massive party you have ever attended so far (in terms of music)? Apart from Sunburn was when I opened two shows for David Guetta in Sweden. People were totally crazy; hanging from the balcony and sitting on each others backs waving their fists in the air. That was a nice experience.Tell us about your upcoming releases I have a lot of new stuff coming out this year. First of is my single Faking Love on my own label Soundtrack Of The Living Dead which will be released on June 20. After that comes Air Drums on Australian label Asterix, and ofcourse new tracks with the Myback project I have together with John Dahlback.
