Bengaluru police on Saturday arrested the prime suspect in the murder case of a 24-year-old woman in her PG accommodation in a posh area in the city. He was arrested from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. The accused, identified as Abhishek, is believed to have fled to Bhopal after killing Kriti Kumari, who resided in a PG accommodation in the Koramangala area. He was sent to 10 days of police custody.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said the accused was being brought to Bengaluru on a transit remand. Responding to a question about the possible motive behind the gruesome murder, the official said, ” “We don’t know it yet. He has to be brought here and then we have to take his police custody and a thorough investigation and interrogation has to be conducted… only then further details can be shared.”
Kriti Kumari was brutally murdered late Tuesday night at her PG accommodation in Bengaluru. Kumari, who worked at a private company in the city, had recently moved into the VR Layout PG in Koramangala.
Days after the 24-year-old woman from Bihar was brutally killed inside her PG in Bengaluru, police managed to access the CCTV footage from the day of the heinous crime. As per the CCTV clip, the accused can be seen entering the PG, he then knocked on the door and slit her throat even as the victim screamed for help. The crime was committed between 11:10 pm and 11:30 pm. The footage also shows the accused escaping from the crime spot.
Police sources have revealed that three special teams were formed to track down the accused. They were meticulously examining the victim’s mobile phone records, including call details, and scrutinizing CCTV footage from the PG premises.
Preliminary inquiries also suggest a possible romantic angle to the crime. The accused is believed to be the boyfriend of the victim, Kriti Kumari’s former roommate.
