While online shopping platforms bring a lot of convenience and ease for people, they also come with a set of drawbacks that customers often struggle with. From delayed deliveries to misplacements, people are given the right to raise their complaints on the respective platforms. But what if the company decides to block them instead? One such incident recently took place with a Chandigarh man who claimed that his Big Basket account was blocked after he complained about receiving an incomplete order.
Taking to his X handle, Chandigarh’s Bhavye Goel shared that he ordered 1 kg of onions from the online grocery store. Upon receiving the item, he weighed it and found that it was only 844 grams. Upon raising a grievance, he received a refund but got his Big Basket account blocked. As proof of his complaint, Goel also shared an image of his onions on a kitchen scale, showing their exact weight.
That’s 1kg onions for your from @bigbasket_com. I complained ~> they refunded and then blocked my account. They charge you like leeches even if 1g is extra and fleecing thousands daily like this. pic.twitter.com/U58Z11diLd— Bhavye Goel (@bhavyegoel) September 4, 2024

In response to his tweet, Big Basket shared generic feedback, stating, “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. Our team will reach out to you soon and help you in the best possible manner; rest assured.” Dissatisfied with the service, the user added that the company grievance officer and CEO team have not responded to his email for the past three days.
Social media users also reacted to the post with various remarks. “Thanks for letting us know. I never weighed because of the blind trust. Forget weighing; I’m going to stop buying groceries from them.”

Another advised, “Avoid ordering non-MRP (non-packed) stuff from these fast delivery portals. The vegetables, fruits, etc. are not fresh and good.”

A user shared her own similar experience and wrote, “I got cauliflower supposed to be (400-600 gm) but I hardly got 250 gm from Amazon. They didn’t even refund. MRPs of many products are far less than they show. Swiggy Instamart just closes any quality issue. U cannot do anything. I am happy with my @bigbasket_com better than them.”
