BANGALORE: Claiming in his suicide note that he was forced to do night shifts, a 38-year-old man killed his wife and two sons before hanging himself. He had even sent SMSes to his uncle, nephew and colleague the previous night at 11.30 informing them about his decision to kill his family and end his life, but none of them had checked their mobiles. The incident was reported at Vishwapriya Layout in Electronics City police station limits on Tuesday.Murthy smothered his wife Lakshmi (35), children Yashas (12) and Lohith (10) to death before hanging himself to the ceiling fan in his room with a saree. Murthy was working as a machine operator in Mico factory at Adugodi since 1996.Yashas was studying in class VI while Lohith was in class IV at St Francis Convent on Begur Road.“According to the letter he left behind, he committed suicide because he was forced to work on night shifts. However, we are trying to find out the exact reason,” the police added.Murthy’s parents, Rajappa and Sannamma, who used to stay with him, had been to Maddur to attend a wedding on Saturday and after returning, they had gone to their elder son Narasimha’s house at Tavarekere.Murthy’s younger brother Ravi, who stays in Hoskote, said he spoke to his brother around 11.30 am on Monday over phone. “He used to confide in me. He was normal.We are shocked to know his family is no more,” Ravi said.
