Udupi: The medical report of the Manipal MBBS student has confirmed that she was raped. The 22-year-old final year MBBS student was allegedly abducted when she was returning to her flat from the college library on Friday night. She was then taken to a nearby forested region by three unidentified men in an autorickshaw and gangraped.
Police on Tuesday released the CCTV footage of the night the 22-yearold student was gangraped by three unidentified men. The footage shows an autorickshaw going out of the Manipal campus at 11:36 pm in the night and then an autorickshaw entering the campus at 2:51 am. However, the number plate of the autorickshaw is not visible on the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, the University has added a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh, taking the total amount to Rs 5 lakh, for any person who comes forward with information on any of the three suspects. Police had released a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh on Tuesday.
The Udupi Police on Monday had also released a sketch of one of the suspects. The sketch was prepared on the basis of the description given by the 22-year old survivor.
The survivor, who suffered a fracture in the legs and injuries on her hands and neck, has been recovering. There have been major protests in Udupi everyday as no arrests have been made yet in the case. Four suspects, who were detained by the police earlier have also been released.
