CHENNAI: The week-long search for 25-year-old law graduate S Satish Kumar, reported missing on June 7, ended when his body was fished out of a lake at ICF on Monday.Police and fire service personnel mounted an intense search of the lake located in ICF North Colony following the discovery of the missing man’s two-wheeler and mobile phone near the water body and the filing of a habeas corpus petition by his father and senior High Court lawyer Shankarasubbu (50).Police also found a packet containing a set of clothes, which they suspected as belonging to the missing man. A search was also conducted in the nearby park, where they found the names of two couples, including that of Satish Kumar and D Niranjana, written on a box, besides being etched on a tree.A resident of Thangam Colony in Anna Nagar West, Satish Kumar left his house on the evening of June 7 and did not return home that night. His family lodged a ‘man missing’ complaint at Thirumangalam police station. On Monday evening, his body was found floating on the lake and the cops were informed. Senior police officials arrived at the spot and summoned the victim’s parents, Shankarasubbu and Mylammal, for identification. “They have identified the body as that of their missing son,” DCP (Kilpauk) K Bhavaneeswari told Express. The senior police official said the body was bloated because it was under the water for a long time, but the clothes were intact. In fact, his parents identified their son with the help of the shirt and trousers and the footwear, she added. While forensic experts did not find any signs of external injuries, only a full autopsy would throw light on that aspect. “The marks found on the body have been identified as those caused by fish bite,” the DCP said. The body would be sent to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death, she said.
