THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Pollution Control Board will zero in on the company to provide mobile incinerators for garbage disposal in the State at a meeting to be held on Thursday. The technical evaluation of the products of four companies, who had responded to the tenders called by SIDCO, was done on Wednesday. It was a Cabinet meeting held in the middle of February that had asked SIDCO to place tenders to choose the service providers of mobile incinerators. According to Pollution Control Board (PCB) Chairman K Sajeevan, who is the convenor of the committee formed to carry out the technical evaluation, four companies had participated in the tender bidding. ‘’The specifications and data regarding the service and product of the companies were evaluated. A meeting to be held on Thursday afternoon will open the financial bids. Only then would the company be chosen,’’ he said. There are two foreign companies and two Indian companies involved in the bidding. The mobile incinerators were suggested as a face-saving machinery by the Government, which had to surrender before local uprisings against centralised solid waste management system in many parts of the State; especially, in Vilappilsala. The vehicle-mounted incinerators could be taken to the garbage spot and the waste disposed of.
