Shanghai: Making a strong pitch for Chinese CEOs to invest in India and promising a business-friendly environment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday listed out the steps taken by his government and invited them to participate in his 'Make in India' campaign.
Addressing India-China Business forum in Shanghai, Modi said, "Now India is ready for business. India and China have potential of growth and problem solving. I am personally committed to take co-operative process forward."
Wooing Chinese companies CEOs, he said, "Once you decide to be in India, we are committed to making you more and more comfortable. You are the factory of the world. We are the back office of the world. Together we can bring about progress and prosperity for our people."
Indian and Chinese companies also signed 26 Memorandum of Understandings worth $22 billion during his meeting with 22 CEOs.
"Our ideas had a role to play in your innovations. We have a lot in common. India has always been a knowledge society. You have been an innovating society," he said.
Promoting his 'Make in India' campaign, Modi said, "We want to make things in India for which we launched "Make In India". We want to encourage R&D. We also want to promote manufacturing in a big way particularly to create jobs for our youth who form 65% of our population."
Listing out the infrastructure projects, Modi said, "The scope and potential of infrastructure and related developments is very huge in India. We have made all time allocation for roads and railways. We are upgrading the existing airports, connecting them to regional places of economic importance. We are going to develop smart cities, mega industrial corridors. For this we have refined our FDI in construction."
