New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh is a worried man. The Centre is considering his dismissal and is thinking of enforcing Article 356 or President's rule in his state.
In a desperate attempt to retain power, the Samajwadi Party sent a delegation to President APJ Abdul Kalam on Tuesday to apprise him of the situation in the state and to ask him to recall the Governor of UP, T V Rajeshwar.
However, nothing seems to be working and the Congress is determined to oust the SP government from the state. In fact, if it were not for the fact that the Left parties are opposing the Cente's decision, the SP government may have been out by now.
With the axe looming large over him, Mulayam has convened an emergency meeting of senior party workers and office bearers on February 21 in Lucknow.
On the agenda is the prevailing situation in the state in the wake of concerted calls for the state government's dismissal.
