Investigation revealed that a dispute between the victim - Arshad Ali Sheikh, a resident of Santacruz - and the accused - Jai Praveen Chavda and Shivjeet Surendra Singh - over a female friend led to the murder

A dead body was found in a suitcase at Dadar railway station in Mumbai on early Monday morning when the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) were conducting a luggage-checking operation. Two people, who were carrying the body in a suitcase on the train after committing the murder were apprehended by the Mumbai police. The body was completely wrapped in plastic and packed in a suitcase, the police noted.

Investigation revealed that a dispute between the victim – Arshad Ali Sheikh, a resident of Santacruz – and the accused – Jai Praveen Chavda and Shivjeet Surendra Singh – over a female friend led to the murder. The killing took place in the jurisdiction of Pydhunie Police Station.

The main accused, Jai Praveen Chavda had a fight with Arshad Ali Sheikh over a female friend at a party on Sunday night which escalated to murder. After committing the murder, the suspects planned to travel by Tutari Express train to dispose of the body, the police stated.

Dadar Railway Police registered a case and arrested one of the suspects at the railway station. The other escaped but was later arrested in Ulhasnagar.

The victim and both suspects are deaf-mutes and communicate using sign language. The police enlisted a sign language expert to assist in the interrogation, which clarified the motive for the murder.

Further investigation into the case is underway and more details are awaited.
