KOCHI: The NIA special court in Ernakulam on Thursday found suspected LeT militant Thadiyantavide Nazeer and his accomplice Shafaz guilty in the Kozhikode twin blast case. The prosecution also argued that in order to show the resentment of the Muslim community, these accused conspired among themselves and manufactured bombs. Doing this they created panic, terror and hardship to the general public, thereby waging war against the establishment and the government. The accused assembled in Kannur with an intention to plant and explode bombs at busy places of Kozhikode city. The prime accused Nazeer was the chief conspirator. They then transported bombs to Kozhikode city by bus. They reassembled at Markas Mosque, Kozhikode. Nazeer briefed the team of the plan of action and entrusted specific jobs to each, the NIA chargesheet said. The court observed, “It is significant to note that it is on a Friday at the time fixed for Juma prayer in mosque that was selected by the accused for the bomb blast with a clear knowledge that all believers will be at the mosque and its premises. It was a precaution to see that believers are not hurt,” it said. The counsel for the accused had questioned the decision to make Shammi Firoz an approver. But the court observed that Shammi’s statement seemed to be true. "It has got the glow of truth glittering behind the twin blasts,” the court observed.
