PUDUCHERRY: An officer from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) interrogated Jharkhand resident Mohammed Ismail Sheik, arrested with counterfeit Indian currencies and was suspected to be a part of an international racket involved in destabilising the nation.Police said an officer in the rank of inspector with the NIA had reached here on Tuesday evening and interrogated Ismail to unravel the racket. The interrogation by the officer, identified by the top official as Sethu, began around 10 pm on Tuesday and ended around 2 am on Wednesday.The special team formed by the Puducherry Police was likely to leave for Malda in West Bengal, the place from where Ismail collected the fake currency. Another team would head for Ismail’s hometown in Jharkhand.The NIA has already started probing the fake currency racket in other areas like Delhi and Chennai.
