London: England soccer captain David Beckham, who threw a birthday bash for his mum in Germany Monday evening, stayed away from booze after the doctors had advised him against it, following his vomiting fit during Sunday's match against Ecuador which England won 1-0.
The England skipper hosted a barbecue for his mother Sandra at the Three Lions’ Black Forest hotel, where fellow players were invited.
But Beckham, a victim of dehydration during the game, was warned by medics not to drink to his mother’s health, The Sun reported.
“Becks has been advised not to drink alcohol or coffee while he recovers from his bout of sickness. He rarely drinks in any case but it’s simply commonsense advice. The whole team suffered in the heat and have been advised not to overdo it. But David obviously has to be that little bit more careful,” the paper quoted a source as saying.
The source added, “Sven is very easy-going about the players having the odd drink. But he trusts them to look after themselves.”
