NEW DELHI: Baba Ramdev did not promote enmity between religious groups at a press conference here in January or provoke his supporters to assault a man who allegedly poured black ink on the yoga guru at the event, Delhi Police told a court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur was hearing the petition of Kamran Siddique, the suspected ink thrower who sought action against Baba Ramdev for allegedly speaking against the Muslim community and plotting the assault on him.
Soon after the ink pouring incident on Jan 14, Siddique was booked for a separate case of promoting enmity between religious groups.
The police response to allegations against Baba Ramdev came on the direction of the court, which at its last hearing sought a status report on the ink pouring incident.
Siddique was allegedly beaten up by the yoga guru's supporters after the incident.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur after hearing the submission of both the sides listed the matter for next hearing for March 6.
