THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has issued a notification to hand over the controversial State Data Centre Transfer case to the CBI.The case stems from the alleged illegal transfer of the Centre to Reliance Communications in 2009, when V S Achuthanandan was the Chief Minister. Since its inception in 2005,the Centre was associated with the state-owned C-DAC.Government chief whip P C George had taken up the issue and approached the High Court after the UDF Government came to power. The notification comes after the government had informed the High Court recently that it was willing to transfer the case to the CBI.George had highlighted the role of T G Nandakumar, the mysterious businessman, who is alleged to have facilitated the deal for Reliance and in whose bank accounts crores of rupees were found to have been transferred. His role came under the scanner after his hobnobbing and secret meets with those in power during the LDF rule came to light.P C George had also alleged that the former director of the Kerala State IT Mission Retan Khelkar, former IT Secretary Ajay Kumar and Mohan Sukumar, son of former Director-General ofProsecution Kallada Sukumaran had played crucial roles in ‘manipulating the tender process’ in favour of Reliance. .
