BANGALORE: In a move to curb the chances of cross-voting in the December 22 by-election to the lone council seat, the ruling BJP on Wednesday revoked the suspension of four legislators - MLAs Sureshbabu, Somashekhar Reddy, B Nagendra and MLC Mrutyunjay Jinaga. Announcing this to media persons here, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa said that all suspended legislators had given satisfactory replies to the show-cause notices issued to them. Hence, their suspension orders had been revoked, he added. He refused to divulge the details of the satisfactory reply given by the suspended MLAs.The party suspended these MLAs with two MPs- Sannafakkirappa and J Shantha- as they campaigned for independent candidate B Sriramulu in the Bellary by-election which BJP lost. As far as the revocation of suspension of two MPs is concerned, it is the party’s Central Election Committee which has to take the decision, he added. This move of the BJP is being seen as an effort to stop these MLAs from cross-voting in the council elections which will decided the continuation of CM D V Sadananda Gowda in office. The suspension would have given them a chance to defend them (MLAs) in the court, in the event of their voting against the party and the latter disqualifying them for the same.
