ROURKELA: Nine minor boys including one high school and another college student, allegedly gangraped a tenth class girl at Chengajharan village under Bisra police limits, about 30 km from here.Police on Saturday conducted medical examination of the victim and the accused, all aged between 14 and 17 years. Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said they were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board at the Observation Home on Rourkela Special Jail campus. The victim’s father had lodged a complaint on Friday that his daughter was gangraped on Thursday evening.According to Bisra IIC Subodh Mallick, the victim, a resident of Kadamtoli hamlet in Udushu gram panchayat, along with her three friends--one girl and two boys-- was going to her relative’s house at the nearby Tiljharan village on Thursday evening. The accused, who were watching television in the main culprit’s house, tried to molest her on the way following which the friends of the victim fled away. The accused later took the girl to an isolated place in Chengajharan area and gangraped her. Investigation revealed that one of the accused was classmate of the victim. police said.The incident comes close on the heels of a series of gangrapes under the Sundargarh police district recently. Five days back, Kutra police booked two youths after they allegedly gangraped a 50-year-old woman at Tunmura village. In February, Rajgangpur police had also arrested three youths on the charges of kidnap and gangrape of a college girl.
