One more arrested in palm-chopping case

KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested a person in connection with the palm chopping incident. The arrested is Anwar Saddique, 38, hailing from Eloor near Aluva. He is the 43rd accused and charged of conspiring against T J Joseph whose right palm was chopped by Popular Front of India (PFI) activists. Anwar is the third one directly arrested by the NIA.He was presented before the special court here and was remanded for 14 days.T J Joseph was attacked on July 4, 2010, for setting a question paper that was allegedly blasphemous and his right palm was chopped off. There are 54 accused in the case and 26 are still absconding.
