One week of odd-even rule enough, why should it be implemented for 15 days: Delhi HC asks government
The Delhi government has been asked to submit a report on pollution levels for past one week by January 8 as there is a need to assess if the scheme has had any positive impact so far.

Questioning the time duration for the odd and even car number scheme, the Delhi High Court asked the state government why the plan is being implemented for 15 days and not one week.

The High Court has observed that one week is also enough for the plan and does not need to be extended to 15 days. It has also asked the government to ease restrictions.

The Delhi government has been asked to submit a report on pollution levels for past one week by January 8 as there is a need to assess if the scheme has had any positive impact so far.

The HC has told the Delhi government to be considerate towards inconvenience caused to people and to keep in mind the inadequacy of public transport. The court observed that they have received several grievances from the public due to the odd and even scheme.

The Delhi government, however, stated that there is a reverse trend in pollution levels in past one week. "Have started taking baby steps to curb pollution in Delhi. The scheme is to save children from Delhi's toxic air," the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi said.
