The Registration Department has announced a scheme for one-time settlement of the cases in the under-valuation of documents registered. The documents registered before March 31, 2012 will get the benefit under the scheme which ends on December 31.
The properties which are less than five cents of area in panchayat limits are exempted from paying the amount. Rs 1000 and Rs 2000 have to paid for the properties in the above said area in municipal and corporation limits respectively. The properties between five and ten cents have to pay Rs 1,000 in panchayats, Rs 3,000 in municipalities and Rs 5,000 in corporation limits.
The rates will be Rs 2,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively if the property is between 10 and 50 cents. If it is above 50 cents, a certain amount of the stamp duty paid has to pay. In panchayats this will be two per cent or Rs 3,000 whichever is higher and in municipalities it is four per cent or Rs 7,000 whichever is higher and six per cent in corporation limits. The lower limits are fixed at Rs 3,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively. Ernakulam district registrar general K C Madhu has announced those who receive a notice in this regard can pay the amount directly at the respective sub-registrar offices or can send to the district registrar by DD.
