New Delhi: Meryl Streep won the Oscar for best lead actress on Sunday for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady'. It was Streeps third Oscar, and her first in 30 years, although she has a record 17 nominations for the most coveted prize in the movie industry. Streeps previous Oscars were for the 1979 film 'Kramer vs. Kramer' and 1982s 'Sophies Choice'.

Mark Coulier and J. Roy Helland won the Academy Award for make-up in 'The Iron Lady'. J. Roy Helland spoke at the event," Thank you Academy and thank you to my colleague on 'The Iron Lady' Mark Coulier, without whose brilliant prosthetics I wouldn't be standing here this evening. Thanks Meryl, for keeping me employed for the last 37 years. Your brilliance makes my work look good no matter what. I'm a child of the Saturday and Sunday double-double features so getting to work in the movies is a dream come true. Thank you."

Mark Coulier said," I'd just like to say what an amazing experience. Thanks to Meryl, you were incredible. And just a quick thank you to Barrie Gower and Stephen Murphy and my kids Isabelle, Ethan and my wife Amanda and my dad. Thank you guys."
