Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) seem to be divided along political lines on issues relating to non-establishment of industries in the lands allotted to various companies as part of the state government’s industrial policy. It is evident from the statements made by TDP and Congress members of the committee soon after the meeting held in the Assembly Committee Hall here on Thursday on land allotments to Brahmani Infratech, Stargaze Properties and Indu Tech Zone in and around Hyderabad.
As committee chairman Revuri Prakash Reddy (TDP) did not attend the meeting, his party colleague B Durga Prasad presided over the meeting in which officials of the revenue, industry and municipal administration departments participated.
The committee members are learnt to have expressed their displeasure over non-establishment of industries on lands allotted to companies in the name of industrial development.
Anam Vivekananda Reddy (Congress) alleged that TDP members were trying to discuss issues relating to allotment of lands for industrial purposes selectively as per a hidden agenda set by their party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. “The prime purpose of the PAC is to protect public properties and contain excessive expenditure. But the TDP members in the committee have thrown these norms to the wind and are taking up discussions on selective subjects with ulterior motives,” Vivekananda Reddy said and expressed his dissent at the meeting.
Another Congress member, C Bhanu Prasad, said TDP members were reluctant to discuss the land allotments made during the rule of Babu. “We tried to raise the issue of allotment of 110 acres of prime land at Madhapur to Raheja Corporation in 2002 at a throwaway price. But the TDP members did not allow us to discuss it,” he said. TDP’s Devineni Umamaheswara Rao alleged that YSRC and Congress leaders colluded on Vanpic.
