Rome: Third seeds Leander Paes of India and Lukas Dlouhy of Czech Republic crashed out of the doubles quarterfinals of the 2,750,000 euros Rome Masters 3-6, 4-6 against Poland's Lukasz Kubot and Austrian Oliver Marach here.
The seventh-seeded Kubot and Marach converted four of the seven break points to prevail in 76 minutes on Friday.
With the loss of Paes and Dlouhy, the Indian challenge in the tournament is over. Mahesh Bhupathi and his Belarusian partner Max Mirnyi, seeded fourth, bowed out in the second round.
Kubot and Marach next play second seeds Bryan brothers -- Bob and Mike.
