Spiritual leader Sadhguru, in a video released on his social media handles, reflected on the consequences of the 1947 Partition, which resulted in the butchering of 1 million people and the forced displacement of 6-7 million people.
In this video on X and Instagram, Sadhguru is in conversation with author Vikram Sampath. “Why were certain things done the way they were done? Why Partition,” asked Sadhguru, emphasising the nation’s need to find the courage to confront the harsh realities of the past and seek answers to these lingering questions.
He further explains that the questions surrounding Partition are not religious, but humanitarian, requiring examination. “Even now, the nation doesn’t have the courage to face these questions and find answers to them. I feel the coming generation must ask these questions,” he asserts.
Sadhguru stresses the importance of the younger generation inquiring about these events, citing the plight of 6 million people who were forced to leave behind their homes and livelihoods, with many still living in refugee camps 75 years later.
“If you put your humanity to sleep, you can forget anything,” Sadhguru says. “But if your humanity is alive, these questions must be asked and answered – for our generation and particularly for the future generation.”
