PETA's hottest vegetarian: Indian makes it to the race
Vimal has beaten out hundreds of other entrants from across India to become one of 10 male contestants.

Thrissu: Twenty four year old Vimal Das from Engadiyur in Kerala's Thrissur district is among the 10 male finalists vying for PETA's hottest vegetarian crown.

Vimal has beaten out hundreds of other entrants from across India to become one of 10 male contestants to advance to the final round of the competition, to be named People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India's Hottest Vegetarian Next Door.

Two winners (one male and one female) will be crowned PETA's hottest vegetarians, and both would be featured on PETA's website and receive a sash and a trophy.

'On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are and they save more than 100 animals a year from factory farms, slaughterhouses and fishing nets', says PETA India Nutritionist Bhuvaneshwari Gupta.

The deadline for voting is 5:30 pm on Nov 7 and winners will be named on Nov 12. PETA will select winners based on several factors, including vote count.
