PIL in SC alleges Mohun Bagan used law intern to fix Justice Ganguly
The petitioner has also questioned Additional Solicitor General of India Indira Jaising for taking actions against Ganguly.

New Delhi: Is the Football politics responsible for the plight of Justice AK Ganguly, who is accused of molesting a young law intern? Is he being kicked around like a football by the media and politicians because of a dispute between Kolkata's famous football club Mohun Bagan and All India Footbal Federation (AIFF)? A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed before the Supreme Court alleges that Mohun Bagan club used law intern to defame Ganguly, who was handling the arbitration between Mohun Bagan and AIFF.

The petitioner Padma Narayan Singh, who claims to be the daughter of a former judge PN Singh, has severely criticised the criminal law, police, media, judiciary and government in the country. The petitioner alleges that the response of the above mentioned organisations has been too harsh as the whole purpose was to malign the image and reputation of a public figure like Ganguly.

The PIL says "In this well planned conspiracy against Justice AK Ganguly, the Mohun Bagan has used the female intern who had prepared the case report on Mohun Bagan in the above said arbitration matter between Mohun Bagan and All India Football Federation, in New Delhi in December 2012. AIFF also corroborates the said conspiracy."

The petitioner has also questioned Additional Solicitor General of India Indira Jaising for taking actions against Ganguly. She alleged that Indira Jaising has ulterior motives behind her fight against Justice Ganguly.

She also hit out at India's criminal justice system for being too weak. "There has been a steep rise in the abuse of criminal law in the hands of the individuals with vested criminal interests abetted by unscrupulous lawyers, with the growing materialistic Indian culture of making big money quickly through corrupt means unlike western culture which is turning towards spiritualism," the PIL said.

In her PIL, the woman has requested all proceedings against Ganguly to be dropped.

The PIL is likely to come up before the Supreme Court for admission on Monday. According to sources in Kolkata, Justice Ganguly is currently in New Delhi.

A law intern working under Ganguly posted a blog accusing him of sexual harassment on December 24, 2012. She alleged that the incident took place when they were handling AIFF and Mohun Bagan arbitration.

Her blog led to a huge uproar following which the Chief Justice of India (CJI) ordered an inquiry into the incident. The Supreme Court panel found Ganguly as accused in the case.
