CHENNAI: A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court for a direction to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to hold investigation on a complaint alleging irregularities in the allotment of plots/houses under the ‘government discretionary quota’ during the DMK regime. When the petition from C Selvaraj, president of the Association of Transparency and Anti-Corruption at Ullagaram, came up for hearing on Thursday, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar ordered two weeks’ notice to the DVAC.In his complaint dated November 11, Selvaraj named former chief minister’s grand-son Dhayanidhi Alagiri as the first accused. The other accused were Sumathy (arrested by the CBI for accepting bribes), Parvin, wife of suspended police officer M Jaffar Sait, Venkataraman, the then PA to the ex-CM, and the rest three were coteries of the ex-CM. Petitioner described the case as a multi-billion scam. The sole criteria for allotment was “nepotism and outstanding achievement of being notoriously corrupt,’’ he alleged. The allotments were based on false affidavits, petitioner claimed and prayed for a direction to the DVAC to probe the plaint.
