Plea to stay selection of police chief dismissed

BANGALORE: Central Administrative Tribunal on Friday dismissed the application filed by incumbent DG&IGP ST Ramesh requesting the tribunal to stay the selection of the candidate for the post of the state police chief as not maintainable.The state government had contended that the application was premature as the content of the list of selected candidates sent by the UPSC is not known to anyone as it has not been revealed. Moreover, the applicant had filed the application based on the media reports and not on the basis of the government order on the list sent by the UPSC.HC Adjourns HearingThe High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the five applications filed by advocate Sirajin Basha requesting the court to vacate the stay granted by it to the proceedings in five cases filed by him against the chief minister and his relatives for indulging in various irregularities like land grabbing in the lower court to June 20.
