Quoting couplets of 15th century saint-poet Kabir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the opposition during his rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Maghar. “People who claim to follow Kabir are more worried about big bungalows,” PM Modi said, attacking former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav over the recent bungalow row. He further said that some political parties want chaos by creating doubts in people’s minds for political gains. However, they are “cut off from the ground reality”. Further slamming the joint opposition, the PM said that those who imposed Emergency and those who were against it, are now trying to forge alliances. Earlier in the day, PM Modi offered ‘chadar’ at the ‘mazar’ of Sant Kabir Das and laid the foundation stone of a research institute named after the 15th century mystic poet. He also visited the Sant Kabir cave and unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone of the Kabir Academy, which will highlight the saint’s teachings and philosophy.
